HORROR ON TV - NBC Plans to Revive ROSEMARY'S BABY, MTV Moves Forward with SCREAM

Depending on your stance, this is either wonderful (or very terrible) news for the world of horror. Months ago I reported in on the development of a Scream television series that could be headed to MTV. Now, after AMC laid claim to Psycho with Bates Motel (that's actually received raving reviews) and NBC has had some mild success with their spin-off of the Hannibal Lecter story, they've decided to set their sights on Rosemary's Baby

There's not much to say yet other that it will be a 4-hour long mini-series that will be set in Paris, as opposed to the historic Dakota in NYC. Scott Abbott will be serving as the writer.

As far as Scream goes, the last I heard was that Wes Craven was waiting on a script that he would either approve or deny, however MTV has greenlit it anyway so I have no idea what the hell is going on. I do know that Jay Beattie and Dan Dworkin (Criminal Minds) will be writing it.

So, what are your thoughts on this? I think that Rosemary's Baby could definitely work in mini-series format, but MTV tackling Scream? Everything about the idea of it makes me want to do just that, scream.

ALMOST HUMAN Looks Like A Bloody Trip Back in Time

This is actually the first I've heard of this one, but Almost Human is debuting at TIFF '13 and I can't wait to feast my eyes on it in it's entirety. Directed by Joe Begos, the synopsis is as follows: “Mark Fisher disappeared from his home in a brilliant flash of blue light almost two years ago. His friend Seth Hampton was the last to see him alive. Now a string of grisly, violent murders leads Seth to believe that Mark is back, and something evil is living inside of him."

Head inside for a peek at the one-sheet,  which is an awesome trip back to the early 80's, and the trailer. Let me know what you think!

Chucky's Back in CURSE OF CHUCKY - Trailer OUT NOW

Chucky's back, and he's better than ever. Brad Dourif is back, with his daughter Fiona, in this updated installation which features a new and improved Good Guy Doll as well. It also happens to look like a fat little Asian girl. No seriously, look:

But hey, I love Chucky so I'm excited to what they have in store for the pint sized killer. See below to check out the trailer!

Classic Review: Re-Animator (1985)

Herbert West has a good head on his shoulders…
And another on his desk.

Herbert West is a scientific genius with a special gift. He can bring the dead back to life. There is no supernatural hocus pocus, no book of evil or supernatural burial ground involved. His key is his latest project, a serum that he has invented that when injected into the skull of a recently deceased subject, restores motor functions… often to disastrous results.

Adapted from HP Lovecraft’s short story “Herbert West – Reanimator”, Re-Animator went on to become one of the greatest cult-hits of the horror genre. With the lead character brought to life by Jeffrey Combs, it remains a fan favorite and must-see for every horror fan of every age.
